March 25, 2010

March has been such a hectic month (cross-country travel! major life decisions! misbehaving automobiles! dayjob upheaval!) that I’ve totally failed to note several fun developments in the fiction department. “Salt’s Father” was included in the Locus Recommended Reading List for 2009 and longlisted for the 2010 British Fantasy Award. I’m thrilled and honored to appear alongside so many awesome writers on both lists, and those appearances may or may not have prompted a humiliatingly uncool victory jig.

Equally jig-inducing, “The Transmigration of Aishwarya Desai” made this year’s Recommended Reading List at Tangent Online. I’m especially happy to see that story get some love–it’s as close to my heart as anything I’ve written, and it was really my first piece of proper, space-opera-y SF. Come to think of it, “Transmigration” is very nearly about Talking Squids in Outer Space

Much more bloggy activity planned for the immediate future, and Shine‘s US release date is rapidly approaching, so stay tuned.
